High bid $100.00

Status: Sold

Matched teacup and saucer for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad in the George Washington pattern, both bottom stamped Buffalo China Made Expressly for Chesapeake & Ohio RR. Teacup is in overall strong condition with little-to-no use wear noted on the piece. 2 manufacturing defects are present. One defect in the application of the portrait resulted in a small dark line visible next to Washington's left ear, extending to the edge of the portrait. One small chip is present near the handle, with associated discoloration. Gold details are generally strong and consistent, except the previously noted chip near the handle, which impacts the large gold trim. Saucer lacks wear marks as well, but gold details show more wear. Light nicks and scratches are present throughout. The edges are crisp, and no gilt is missing. Bottom of saucer is clean. See photos for best description.
