#5895 • Early Porcelain California License Plate

Part of November 2026 Automobilia (live auction by Rail & Road Auctions)

Starting at $5.00

Status: Available

About 13" by 4 1/2" porcelain license plate reading CAL 42052. Research suggests this plate is pre-1940s, as the number does not have any letters and is only five characters long, and may be from as early as the 1910s. Plate has a roughly 1" spot of porcelain wear above the 5 and two smaller spots of wear, one below the 5 and one on the left edge. There are four extra holes without grommets: three in a triangle above CAL and one above and to the left of the 5. Spots of mild rust around the grommets and along the edge of the plate. Please see photos for best description.
